Details of Experience:

Mrs. C has always been independent. She took care of herself, her kids, and even her own mother. At the beginning of 2025, she had a stroke, which drastically changed the way she lived her life. On March 25th, she was transferred to Nashville Center from St. Thomas West. She required physical, occupational, and speech therapy to return to her independent self.

Upon her arrival, she felt welcomed and comfortable. She noticed that both the residents and employees were very happy here. She could tell instantly that this was a good place for healing. “It felt like a family,” said Mrs.C. She participated in activities such as BINGO and flower arranging, which helped the time pass and keep morale up. She noted that the rapport between the employees and residents was positive. Everyone seemed to have a nice bond, which she appreciated.

On her second day, she was evaluated by therapy and social work. Both departments were able to create a care plan specific to her needs, and her rehabilitation began. She began her healing journey by walking short distances and required moderate assistance with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living). She was also only at 25% for simple verbal problem solving. She thoroughly enjoyed her time with the therapy team and said that they made therapy fun. She was happy with the progress she was making here. By working with our physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists, she made many improvements.  Mrs. C was able to increase how far she could walk and reduce the level of assistance needed for ADLs. By her discharge, she was at 100% for simple verbal problem solving.

As she regained some of her independence and strength, Mrs. C was looking forward to her discharge. Although she had a good time here, she was ready to head home. With the help of various departments, Mrs. Cheatham’s overall experience was positive. The housekeepers were nice and kept things clean, her nurses and techs were kind and helpful, recreation brightened her day, and therapy made things fun. She was thankful for the assistance that she had here, and she thought it was a very nice place to be. Her discharge was a bittersweet moment for the Nashville Center team. They were excited to see her well enough to go home, but they missed the warmth and kindness she brought to the facility.

Nashville Center would like to thank the wonderful Mrs. Ramona C. and her lovely family for choosing us for her healing journey and allowing us to share her story.
