Details of Experience:
Joan B. admitted due to a fall while getting up from her recliner. The fall resulted in a fracture to her right ankle. When Joan was admitted, she was in pain from her fall, but could not wait to start therapy and get back to her independent living facility. Therapy noted Joan was very motivated to do the hard work needed to complete her recovery.

Joan’s next step in her rehabilitation journey is gaining weight clearance from her Orthopedist so she can begin to work on ambulating without an assistive device. She currently can ambulate 150 feet with her rolling walker with maximum assistance and is working on building up her overall strength. She is also learning safety techniques to take back home with her to prevent another fall. Joan also is working with Speech Therapy to help communicate her basic needs, enabling her to return to her independent living community.

Joan shared she loves working with therapy and the team has been very pleasant and easy to get along with. When asked what she was looking forward to upon returning to her home, Joan stated “playing cards with my friends, socializing, and being in my own space again”. The team at Nashville Center is excited to continue to be a part of Joan’s rehabilitation journey.
